The Australian Cricketers' Association congratulates all the award winners from the Allan Border Medal awards night in Sydney.

This year, the joint ACA & Cricket Australia event had a greater focus on female cricket, with the Domestic Female Player of the Year and Betty Wilson Young Female Cricketer of the Year awarded for the first time.

Australian Female Captain Meg Lanning would go onto win the Domestic award, along with taking home the prestigious Belinda Clark medal for the most outstanding female cricketer of 2016.

Young Victorian all-rounder Sophie Molineux was awarded the Young Player of the Year, after ICC and now Australian Cricket Hall of Fame member Betty Wilson.

In the male awards, David Warner capped off an amazing 2016 to be awarded Allan Border medallist, on the back off a terrific one-day international year in particular.

Mitchell Starc was crowned Test Player of the Year, while Shane Watson collected the T20 International Player of the Year.

ACA Chief Executive Alistair Nicholson congratulated all the award winners for a strong 2016, both domestically and internationally.

"I would like to extend my congratulations to all the award winners from Monday night," Nicholson said.

"The night was a huge success, and duly recognised the wonderful performances from the players in 2016.

"It was particularly good to see the Betty Wilson Young Player of the Year and Domestic Female Player of the Year awarded for the first time.

"Well done to all involved in introducing these important awards, and of the organising of the entire evening."
