Australia reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 2-0 series win, after India held on for a draw at the SCG.

Following an overnight declaration, Australia gave themselves 90 overs to dismiss the Indians to take the series 3-0.

A resilient Indian batting lineup managed to survive a final-day Aussie onslaught and reach stumps at 7-252, 98 runs short of victory.

Steve Smith had a fruitful first series as skipper, leading the batsmen with 769 runs at 128.16, ahead of an impressive Virat Kholi, who managed to finish with 692 runs at 86.50.

On the bowling front, Nathan Lyon took advantage of some spin-friendly decks, taking 23 series wickets at 34.82. Mohammed Shami was the next best with 15 wickets at 35.80 in a series dominated by the batsmen.
