The Australian Cricketers' Association is encouraged that Cricket New South Wales are set to increase financial commitment to their female players.

Announced Thursday, Lendlease have increased its sponsorship of the New South Wales Breakers, allowing the players the opportunity to earn upwards of $35,000.

Chief Executive Alistair Nicholson praised Cricket New South Wales on their leadership in the female cricket space.

"Andrew Jones and Cricket New South Wales have consistently pushed for better terms and conditions for female cricketers', and this announcement is another step in the right direction," Nicholson said.

"This increase highlights the value that is being placed upon female cricketers, and the role they have in growing the game," Nicholson said.

While Nicholson noted that the agreement between Lendlease and the Breakers was a positive for cricket in New South Wales, he indicated that an MOU remained the best way to secure all Australian female players for the long-term.

"It is encouraging that some of our female players have received an additional amount in their contracts, this highlights why an MOU is important step for the female game," Nicholson said.

"An MOU which covers all Australian players will be an important step towards equal opportunities for male and female players, regardless of the state they play for or their gender."

The ACA is set to begin MOU negotiations with Cricket Australia in coming weeks, where the ACA will push for one MOU agreement to cover all Australian cricketers.
