Hobart booked their place in the Champions League semi-final stage with a win over Barbados, while Perth's tournament was drawn to a halt with a loss to Chennai.

Xavier Doherty (4-27) and Shoaib Malik (39no) both starred for the Hurrcianes, as they made light work of Barbados' 10-113, reaching their target with six wickets in hand in the 19th over.

Ben Hilfenhaus (2-14) and Doug Bollinger (2-27) did all the early damage as the Tridents struggled to gain any rhythm during their innings.

Hobart finish second on the Group B table, meaning they'll be booking a sem-final date with either Chennai or Lahore.

Perth on the other hand have been eliminated from the Champions League title race after they fell 13 runs short of victory to the IPL's Chennai Super Kings.

After a slow start, Chennai managed to pile on 6-155 with the help from some hard hitting from Indian pair Ravindra Jadeja (44no) and MS Dhoni (35).

In response, Nathan Coulter-Nile (30) did his best to breath some life back into a stagnant run chase but it wasn't enough for the BBL outfit, who could only produce 7-142 on a disappointing night for the Aussies.

Perth face Lahore on Tuesday in Bengaluru, as they look to restore some pride and prevent the Pakistani franchise from progressing to the semi-final stage.
