Maxwell wins T20 Player of the Year award

Glenn Maxwell was named Twenty20 Player of the Year at the Allan Border Medal on Tuesday after a stellar year with both the bat and ball.

He scored 241 runs in 12 matches with a strike-rate of 175.91 – the best by any Australia player in the voting period – while also collecting nine wickets at an economy rate of 6.94 runs per over.

Maxwell received a total of 27 votes, clear of Finch (18) and Cameron White (17).

Australian coach Darren Lehmann presented the all-rounder with the award at the ceremony.
