The Melbourne Stars and the Perth Scorchers have completed a player deal that see Michael Beer move to the Stars and James Muirhead become a Scorcher.

The trade was made prior to today's 2pm AEDT deadline and is the first in BBL Trade Week history.

Muirhead only managed four appearances from last season's BBL but is coming off a performance where he claimed 3-25 against South Africa when representing the CA XI in a T20 in Sydney.

Beer collected three wickets at 26.66, with an economy rate of 6.66 with the twelve overs he bowled during last season's tournament.

BBL clubs have until Friday 5 December to submit their 18-player squad lists, including their Community and Development Rookies.
