The National Performance squad (NPS) produced an upset by defeated Australia A by 52 runs in their second one-day match at Marrara Oval in Darwin on Tuesday.
The NPS won the toss and elected to bat putting on 252 in their 50 overs. Cameron Bancroft was the best of the NPS batsmen with 66 runs.
The wickets were spread amongst the Australia A bowlers picking up one-a-piece with the exception of Ben Cutting and Mitchell Marsh who nabbed two each.
In response, Alex Doolan (55) and Chris Lynn (52) were the best of the Australia A batsmen. Sean Abbott took 3-22 in his seven overs as Australia A were bowled out in the in the 46th over 52 runs short of victory.
Meanwhile, Victoria's Marcus Stoinis has joined the Australia A squad in Darwin as replacement for Chris Lynn. Lynn is experiencing left shoulder pain and is returning home to Queensland for further investigation and management.
National Performance Squad member Ashton Agar has also returned home to Perth with a knee injury. Agar suffered some tendon damage to his left knee following a net session in Darwin and will return to the WACA for treatment and rehabilitation.
