James Pattinson had Australian cricket smiling overnight, claiming three wickets on return to the game from a back injury that kept him on the sidelines for almost nine months.

The 24-year-old took the new ball and had an immediate impact on the match, bowling Jacques Kallis (0) and Michael Hussey (10) in his first spell.

Former teammate Andrew McDonald (11) then became his third victim, also bowled, to hand the Test bowler figures of 3-24 from four overs.

During the match, Pattinson told commentators he wishes to return to Shield cricket when the Bushrangers take on Queensland on 7th of February, following some time with his Grade Cricket club, Dandenong.
