An unbeaten knock of 243*to Phil Hughes capped off the final day’s play between Australia A and South Africa A as the four-day match ended in a draw at Tony Ireland Stadium.
Australia A declared at 3-454 in response to South Africa A’s first innings total of 333 when the match came to an end.
Hughes and South Australian teammate Callum Ferguson (82) picked up where they left off yesterday, pushing their partnership to 182 runs before Ferguson was run out. Hughes continued to build his side’s total with Matthew Wade (32*) as they put on 121 runs before the end of the day’s play.
It beccame Hughes' highest ever first-class score, as he rewards selectors for his call-up to the national side.
