The Burt Cockley Story - Part 1

Last month former Western Australian and New South Wales quick Burt Cockley joined Australia's rising stars at the 2014 New Player Induction Camp to share the story of his cricket journey.

Hailing from Newcastle, Cockley joined Randwick Petersham Cricket Club after making the move to Sydney when he was 21.

Leading New South Wales' wicket takers in the in 2008-09, he was called up to the Australian One-Day team in India, where a monsoon washed away his chance of making a debut in green and gold.

A succession of injuries then threw Cockley's playing career into disarray, leading to a hellish few years that kept him sidelined and experiencing a wide range of emotions, including depression.

In the first part of Burt's story he guides you through his journey, detailing his sharp ascent and then horrendous run with injury, before speaking about how he resurrected his career with a move out west and a more balanced approach to cricket and life.
