WHAT ARE OUR ACA MEMBER BENEFITS?

We asked ACA member, Amelie Hunter, what benefits and programs she has made use of as an ACA Member and how it has supported her in life after cricket:

How long have you been a member of the ACA?

2013-14

What level of cricket did you play at, and name a memory from that time that resonates with you?

I played national league for the Victorian Spirit. One of the best memories was playing the best-of-three final series in my first year in the team, on the MCG. This was the first time a national league game was played there. We took the series into a third game thanks to a Belinda Clark century and Megan Pauwels hitting a four off the last ball to win the game. We won the deciding match in front of very proud family and friends. (Just one of the benefits of being an ACA Member, pictured below playing cricket again with Megan Pauwels in a Master Match against the Australian Defence Force Team on Manuka Oval)

MEGS HUNTER

In your time as an ACA member, what Member Programs have you used?

-        Health Fair Days (Great peace of mind after spending so much time in the sun)

-        Member functions (2016/17 & 2017/2018)

-        Health and Wellbeing support grants

-        Medical Support Fund

-        Masters games and frequent values card (I’m making the most of my membership!)

What value do you place on each program?

The health-related programs are definitely of great value as I get older and the member functions are a wonderful opportunity to catch up with past players, as well as chat with players that came before us. To see the cricket friendships that continue long after retirement is pretty special.

The ACA advocate for its members, what are the areas /aspects of our advocacy that you can recall throughout the time?

Definitely the role that the ACA has played in negotiating wages for current players and the investment in grass roots cricket.

Why is being an ACA Member important to you?

I’m grateful that female players are now part of the ACA and the support it provides. The sport is developing rapidly with today’s support and professionalism. The difference from seeing previous Australian and State players before me that had to pay to play, to the support of today’s current and past players is remarkable. It’s amazing to reflect on where we’ve come from, but look towards the future with so much excitement and anticipation.

The Past Players Member Benefits are many and varied, if you have any questions on how you can access any of our programs or benefits please contact the office on 03 9698 7207 for more information;
