Following CA’s release of attendance, broadcast and digital numbers for this summer, Nicholson said that cricket in Australia is in great shape.
“The game is really strong and the players should be congratulated.
“We are so fortunate to have some of the best players in the world playing such an exciting brand of cricket.
“And as a result, they continue to attract the fans and engage the audience in record numbers.”
Cricket Australia’s figures revealed:
“An Ashes summer always attracts a lot of interest, but as the figures demonstrate, it is also the domestic players throughout the WBBL and BBL that continue to break new ground.”
Nicholson highlighted how the players role in digital content was providing a really exciting future for the growth of Australian Cricket.
“The way our cricketers embrace innovation both on and off the field demonstrates their willingness to develop their partnership with the game.
“They should take a lot of pride in these results given they invest so much of themselves in achieving these outcomes.
“Congratulations to Cricket Australia on these results also.
“These numbers show the benefit of a partnership based on a revenue sharing model.
“With many of the domestic and international stars of the summer now returning to the Shield and WNCL competitions, we look forward to an exciting conclusion to our domestic season.”
