ACA congratulates Healy on ICC T20 Player of the Year award

3 January, 2019

Alyssa Healy was this week crowned ICC Women’s Twenty20 International Player of the Year.

Healy finished the year with 578 runs at an average of 41.28, scoring six half-centuries in winning Australian matches, and was named the Player of the Tournament at the recent World Cup.

She also had the highest strike rate of batters with more than 300 runs, at 145.95.

Healy was included at the top of the order in the T20 Team of the Year, which also included fellow Australians Megan Schutt, Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner; and was also named at number six in the One-Day Team of the Year.

While personally it was her most successful season, Healy enjoyed unprecedented team success, winning the World Cup, the WNCL with NSW and the WBBL with the Sydney Sixers.

Healy has been enjoying another stellar WBBL, currently with 341 runs @ 37.88 with 13 dismissals.

Speaking on the award, Healy said:

“I am really humbled and honoured to receive such an award.

“I have enjoyed some great success in 2018, and obviously individual awards are nice, but I will always remember 2018 for the year my teams had on the field.

“To play a role in a winning World Cup, a winning WNCL and a winning WBBL all in 2018 is something that I will treasure for the rest of my career."

ACA Manager Cricket Operations and Player Relations Kelly Applebee congratulated Healy on the accolade.

“Alyssa has represented Australian cricket well over the last ten years,” Applebee said.

“This year she has elevated herself to one of the best players in the world, and she should be congratulated for that."

“Alyssa has long been a strong supporter of the ACA as a delegate, and now is a key member of the ACA Executive, so we are all the more pleased for her success.
