ACA General Manager Cricket Operations & Player Relations Brendan Drew has commented on today’s release of the 2018/19 Big Bash schedule by Cricket Australia.
“The players love playing in the Big Bash and with two new broadcasters this year, we’re excited to see what opportunities that brings.
“The BBL and WBBL have brought a lot of new fans to the game, so taking the game to the Gold Coast and other centres outside the capital cities will hopefully see that continue.”
With the expanded number of BBL games in the coming season, including the extension into February, Drew noted the need to work with broadcasters and CA to ensure balance across all formats.
“The players continue to show a desire to promote the game and will continue to do so in the move from 10 to 14 games this year.
“Two Christmas Eve matches is an exciting offering for the fans while still allowing players to return to their home base for Christmas Day.
