ACA Response to Cricket Australia CEO Announcement

3 October, 2018

ACA President Greg Dyer wished Kevin Roberts well on his appointment as the new CEO of Cricket Australia (CA) following today's announcement by the CA Board, noting the significant challenges which lie ahead.

"This is a critical time for Australian cricket," Dyer said.

"The cricket public need to reconnect with the game and this will begin with CA being open, fair and transparent in order to regain their trust.

"The on and off field events of the past 18 months have created an expectation that a number of things will need to change.

"The findings and recommendations of CA's Longstaff and McCosker reviews will hopefully identify the changes that need to occur.

"Just as the players have been held accountable, we also expect that CA will be fully accountable in taking the difficult steps required to restore the reputation of the game.

"The ACA looks forward to representing our members and providing our views on important issues facing the game during this important period," Dyer said.

ACA Chief Executive Alistair Nicholson offered his congratulations and also highlighted the critical nature of Roberts' role.

"The partnership between the ACA and CA has been important to the game’s success for over twenty years.

"We look forward to continuing to build bridges between our organisations as we look to grow Australian cricket.

"CA have identified a need for significant change and the ACA will play its part assisting CA and Kevin throughout this ongoing process," Nicholson said.

The ACA repeats its earlier congratulations to James Sutherland on almost 20 years of service to Australian cricket and recognises the significance of his contribution to the game.
