The Masters program has been developed by the ACA, the official representative body of past and present players, with a focus on the promotion of cricket. The program helps local cricket associations to raise funds and identify local talent.
The tour program has been primarily funded by the current first-class and Australian players as part of their commitment to developing the game in regional Australia and engaging with local communities.
With over 1,200 first-class matches between them, the Sale touring squad boasts a great deal of experience and expertise that can be passed onto the next generation of local cricketers.
ACA CEO Alistair Nicholson spoke about the importance of the Masters program.
“Many of Australia’s elite cricketers hail from regional communities across the country, so it’s vital that we reach all parts of Australia to help with the growth of the game.
“These regions can expect to benefit from a wealth of cricket knowledge with a whole host of former Australian and first-class cricketers in the squad," he said.
Activities in Sale will include a T20 Blast competition for young school children from the Sale-Maffra region throughout the afternoon prior to the match and function during and following the game featuring the former Australian cricketers as guest speakers.
