Drew appointed to senior cricket role

The ACA has confirmed that former Tasmanian quick Brendan Drew has been appointed as the General Manager Cricket Operations & Membership.

Chief Executive Alistair Nicholson said that as Drew had performed a lot of the core functions of the role in the past 12 months, he was the ideal candidate to officially move in to this role.

"Brendan has been a fantastic asset to the ACA since arriving in 2015," Nicholson said.

"He has excellent relationships throughout the player group and has demonstrated tremendous insight in to the game which is obviously critical in this area."

Nicholson said that with the new MOU now finalised, it was time to update the structure of the Cricket Operations area.

"The new MOU gives the ACA greater input in to a number of areas affecting the players.

"Brendan continues to perform many of these tasks in an outstanding manner, and we will continue to build the rest of the team to further complement the other requirements," Nicholson said.

Drew played eight years of first class cricket in Australia and following his retirement in 2013 has maintained active involvement in the game as playing-coach of the Camberwell Magpies Cricket Club in Victorian Premier Cricket.

"Brendan is a really driven individual who continues to give so much of his time to the game," Nicholson said.

"The last 12-18 months have really shown us his leadership qualities and I'm really pleased to be able to promote him in to this role."

Drew's appointment comes in to effect immediately.
