FICA approves a set of guiding principles

13 March, 2015
The Executive of the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) met in Sydney on 9th, 10th and 11th March 2015.

FICA has approved a new strategy plan and a set of Principles which will guide its working and positions over the next four years.

"As the world players' federation in cricket, we intend to maintain a global view on issues that affect, and are important to, players and to players' associations around the world", said Tony Irish, FICA's Executive Chairman. "Since the ICC's restructure last year, we've done a lot of internal work focussed on the role played by FICA and how best to represent the interests of the players in the present and future cricket landscape. The FICA Principles are a product of that work and they set out our ambitions under six pillars which we've identified as being important to the players and to the game."

"We are realistic about the challenges we face in ensuring that the benefits of effective player representation enjoyed by players in countries with strong players' associations are shared by all cricketers, but remain committed to ensuring their interests are properly served within the global game."

The Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) is the global international players federation, established in 1998 to co-ordinate the activities of all national players' associations which protect the interests of professional cricketers throughout the world. It brings together all of the world's cricketers, regardless of nationality, religion, political persuasion or race, under an international body focuses on matters of general interest to the game and its players.
