Labelling Maxwell's appointment an 'excellent choice' Dyer said that Maxwell's knowledge and relationships within cricket would be welcome at Cricket NSW.
"Neil is an excellent contributor to the ACA Executive since coming on board in 2011.
"He has been connected to the game at all levels for decades and he is always very giving of himself and his time.
"Neil's understanding of the business of sport will also be a great asset to Cricket NSW."
Dyer said strengthening the connection between the players' and administrators was welcome.
"We hope this can be a demonstration of the fact that ACA and the games' administrators can work closely together.
"Cricket should be looking to find the best people to improve the game and Neil is an excellent choice on many levels."
Speaking of his appointment, Maxwell said he planned to be a 'bridge' between key stakeholders.
"The ACA is passionate about the future of Australian cricket and the opportunity for positive change.
"In most issues facing the game, the ACA and the administrators see eye-to-eye; we all want what is best for cricket.
"If I can be a 'bridge' between the players and the administrators, that is a role I welcome."
