Premier Cricket Program kicks off again in 2019-20

12 September, 2019

Premier Cricket kicked off in Queensland this week, with many great performances by ACA members headlining scorecards, including former Queensland all-rounder Jason Floros striking 112 for Wynnum-Manly.

Floros is again involved in the ACA Premier Cricket Program in 2019-20, with former Australian quick Peter George joining him at Wynnum-Manly as an assistant coach.

The ACA Premier Cricket Program is back for its fifth season, supporting ACA Members to identify, inspire and instruct talent in male and female Premier Cricket around the country.

With most clubs having now confirmed their ACA Members for 2019-20, clubs are now focused on the start of the Premier Cricket season which for States other than Queensland and NSW is the first week in October.

In Queensland Premier Cricket, former Australian Captain Jodie Fields is another ACA member that brings a wealth of knowledge to Western Suburbs Cricket Club through the Premier Cricket Program.

With NSW Premier Cricket set to begin this weekend, Hawkesbury Cricket Club will boast former Australian batter Peter Forrest as part of their coaching set-up, while Charlotte Anneveld will play and coach at Gordon Cricket Club.

In Victoria, Tim Ludeman will be a part of the Program for the first time at Geelong Cricket Club and former Western Australian Bhavi Devchand will be involved in the program with Ringwood Cricket Club.

In Western Australia a couple of members with international experience are exciting inclusions in the Premier Cricket program with Travis Birt involved at Wanneroo and Nicky Shaw at Melville.

Damien Wright will again oversee University of Tasmania’s men’s and women’s setup, and Mark Cosgrove will return for Northern Districts in South Australia.

Brendan Drew said that with further appointments to be announced, it was again exciting to see so many members involved in premier cricket in 2019-20.

“To have a number of members involved for the first time in the Program is huge positive, heading into the 2019-20 season,” Drew said.

“Former Australian Captain Jodie Fields, former Australian fast bowler Peter George, and a number of recently off-contact state players involved for the first time, will only help Premier Cricket this season.

“It is really exciting to once again support this vital level of Australian cricket."

Premier Cricket Program applications are being closed off over the next week.
