Virat Kohli has added his name to the Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation Player of the Match bat in Adelaide on Tuesday night.
In each of the One Day Internationals between Australia and India, the Player of the Match will sign a special Zaidee’s Rainbow bat, which will be auctioned by the Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation at the conclusion of the series.
Jhye Richardson was the first to sign, after his match-winning spell of 4-26 in the opening ODI in Sydney, with one more signature to be added following Friday’s ODI at the MCG.
Cricket Australia has also committed to a $500 donation to Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation for each of the three ODI’s.
Zaidee’s Rainbow Round (January 11 -18) has seen players across the BBL, WBBL and Australian teams don rainbow bat-grips, laces and wristbands to help raise awareness for organ and tissue donation.
ACA Chief Executive Alistair Nicholson thanked the players and Cricket Australia for their support;
“This year we have seen fantastic engagement which has helped highlight this very important cause,” Nicholson said.
“I would like to thank the players from both the Australian and Indian teams for their support, as well as the BBL and WBBL players who have so enthusiastically used the rainbow gear over the past week.
“Thanks must also go to Cricket Australia for their generous contribution, which certainly helps raise awareness around the importance of organ and tissue donation.”
Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation has been the charity partner of the ACA since 2013.
The auction process will commence from 5.00pm AEDST Thursday 17th January 2019 and will close at 5.00pm AEDST on Wednesday 23rd January 2019; information available at ZAIDEE.ORG
